Glad Midsommar!

It’s almost the longest day of the year, and in Scandinavia this is cause for celebration. For several hours now most of the population of Sweden (including our very own Gerry and Margareta) will be found deep in the countryside, busy decorating the midsummer pole, picking flowers to wear in their hair, scrubbing the last new potatoes, putting the final touches to the strawberry cakes, singing and dancing, and – of course – washing it all down with some delicious schnapps. So, on behalf of all of us at Skandinavisk… Glad Midsommar!

Små grodorna, små grodorna är lustiga att se.

Små grodorna, små grodorna är lustiga att se.
Ej öron, ej öron, ej svansar hava de.
Ej öron, ej öron, ej svansar hava de.
Kou ack ack ack, kou ack ack ack,
kou ack ack ack ack kaa.
Kou ack ack ack, kou ack ack ack,
kou ack ack ack ack kaa.
Ej mössor, ej mössor, ej byxor hava de.
Ej mössor, ej mössor, ej byxor hava de.

This is one of the traditional Midsommar songs ‘Små Grodorna'(Little frogs), that you sing while dancing around the Midsummer pole. Hence the song title, this dance involves a lot of jumping around and is a lot of fun for all ages.
